A Rancho Cucamonga duo caught a case after deputies say they followed a victim from a bank and burglarized their car. The suspects, identified as Danny Cano-Alba, 29, and Maria Casas-Cordoba, 27, both residents of Rancho Cucamonga, were nabbed following a joint investigation by Chino Hills deputies and detectives from the Multi-Enforcement Team.
The break-in was reported on April 25, 2024, around midday when deputies scrambled to the scene at 3290 Chino Hills Parkway. Cano-Alba and his accomplice Casas-Cordoba allegedly had their eyes on the victim's belongings, soon after the victim left a nearby bank, the sheriff's office said.
Law enforcement managed to spot and pull over the suspected vehicle in Eastvale, which led to Cano-Alba's detainment. Shortly thereafter, the investigators obtained a warrant to search his home. In a statement obtained by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, deputies disclosed finding a hoard of stolen goods, fake papers, a toolkit for thievery, and evidence suggesting identity theft in the couple's abode.
Cano-Alba and his other half, Casas-Cordoba, were slapped with cuffs and hauled into the West Valley Detention Center. The details emerged from a sheriff's department announcement released on Monday. Authorities are pressing those who have any information about the incident to reach out to the Chino Hills Police or to drop a tip-off anonymously at the We-Tip Hotline, the sheriff's department urged.
