A tow truck driver was viciously stabbed by a man while he was stopped at a red light on the northwest side of San Antonio earlier today, according to local authorities. The incident occurred on the 9900 block of Wurzbach Road near I-10, San Antonio Police Department says.
The victim was in the midst of being shown the ropes by a passenger who was training him on his new job when a suspect approached the truck. After rolling down his window, the driver found himself quickly under attack as the suspect produced a knife and plunged it into the driver's arm, as reported by KENS 5. The trainee remained unharmed during the fray.
The driver managed to maneuver his vehicle to the safety of a nearby H-E-B parking lot to seek assistance. He was later transported to University Hospital in stable condition for treatment. The description of the assailant led to the belief that he may be an individual experiencing homelessness, as KSAT News detailed.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they encountered the suspect who still possessed the knife. Before being tazed and taken into custody, the suspect confronted them with the weapon. Charges facing the suspect have not yet been disclosed by authorities. With the suspect now detained, an investigation into the motivations and circumstances of the attack is underway.
