A desperate search is underway in Marin County, where a 79-year-old man has gone missing with one of his two dogs, sparking an urgent plea from local authorities. Craig Thomas was last seen embarking on his routine walk with his corgies around 6pm Friday from his home on Winding Way in Ross, according to the Marin County Search and Rescue (SAR) team.
One of Thomas's dogs returned without its owner, prompting immediate concern. Wearing a favorite baseball cap, walked by everyone in the Ross Valley area, is being asked to check their properties and any vehicles in hopes that Thomas may be found safe. Marin SAR emphasized the importance of local collaboration, stating, "If you are anywhere in the Ross Valley area please check your property carefully as well as any vehicles you own. Also check your security cameras."
The team took to social media, sharing the call-to-action on their Facebook page with a link to a flyer providing details on Thomas's appearance and contact information for tips. The region, known for its tight-knit community and tranquil trails, has become the focal point of an expansive search effort.
Authorities are urging the public to report any potential leads by calling 911. "Call 911 with any important clues," the SAR team's Facebook post implored as the hours since Thomas's last sighting continued to grow.
Anyone with information or who may have seen Thomas since his disappearance is encouraged to come forward. The search is ongoing, and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
