A second suspect has been cuffed in connection with a January homicide in Houston, which previously led to one arrest. 28-year-old Jesus Garcia was charged with capital murder in relation to the shooting death of Carlos Govea Resendiz, which occurred at 215 Sunnyside Street, as per information released in a news release.
Earlier, shortly after the incident on January 5, Enrique Amador Garcia, 34, was also arrested and pinned with capital murder in the case. Both men are now ensnared in legal proceedings, facing charges in the 230th State District Court. Even as the investigation continues, Houston police have not put any witnesses on the stand or provided clearly a motive behind the fatal shooting.
The victim, Resendiz, who was 40 at the time of his death, was found by HPD officers dispatched to the scene, sprawled in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead by paramedics who pronounced him on the site, pronounced dead, an unfortunate stage set by unknown assailants that night.
According to HPD Homicide Division detectives S. Chettry and H. Martinez, initial investigation into the grim affair turned up initially neither suspects nor motive, with the case's fabric seeming to hold no visible seams. It was, however, further probing that brought Jesus Garcia into the spotlight, and on March 29, charges were formally lodged against him. Having already been held on an unrelated charge, Mr. Garcia did not evade custody for long and now finds heels locked behind bars at the Harris County Jail.
The details surrounding the arrest of Jesus Garcia were sparse, but it was confirmed that no incident marred his capture, a tactic reportedly executed by the HPD North Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team on March 27.
