Tragedy struck on a South Los Angeles street Monday afternoon when a male Black juvenile was gunned down. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that their Homicide Bureau is investigating the shooting, which took place on the 10800 block of Western Avenue.

According to an update posted by the Sheriff's Information Bureau, deputies from the South Los Angeles Station raced to the scene to eventually discover a large group of youths scattering from the area. Amid the chaos, they found the juvenile victim sprawled on the sidewalk, his life ebbing away from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he was sadly pronounced dead, unable to survive the ordeal inflicted upon him.

In the wake of the shooting, detectives learned about multiple altercations that had erupted before the fatal incident. A person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with the case, which still leaves many questions unanswered. "There is no additional information available at this time," the press release stated.
