Get ready to game on or shoot some hoops, because the South Park Community Center is serving up a spring smorgasbord of activities to keep you moving and shaking this season. The center has officially announced it's revving up for spring quarter drop-in programs over at Concord Elementary School, and there's a little something for everyone. Whether you're a chess wizard, Scrabble junkie, or just nursing a serious love of basketball, it's time to leave your couch potato days behind.
The action kicks off every Monday with 'Drop-In Board Games' for all ages, running from 6:30 pm to a cozy 8:30 pm in the cafeteria. And for those looking to break a sweat, 'Drop-In Basketball Practice' is open for anyone aged 10 and above in the gym. But wait – there's more. On Tuesdays, you can double down with the same board game fun and throw down in some 'Adult Drop-In Basketball' in the gym during the same hours, meant exclusively for grown folks.
A recent post from parkways.seattle.gov details the full weekly schedule. Spoiler alert: Wednesdays and Thursdays follow suit with the board games and basketball mix. But Thursdays come with a twist, adding 'Drop-In Basketball/Fitness' for ages 8 and up. It’s a surefire way to get the blood pumping after a day trapped behind a desk or mired in homework.
Spring into Fridays, and the scene changes slightly. The community center ups to host 'Teen Late Night' for those ages 13-19 from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and 'Tween Late Night' for the 9-12 crowds, wrapping up at 9:00 pm. Saturdays are for the younger crowd with 'Tween Late Night' keeping the doors open from 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm. It's a prime time for the preteens to socialize and let off steam, no doubt a blessing for parents and guardians looking to reclaim a piece of weekend sanity.
All of this community-centric fun is a testament to the ongoing efforts to provide engaging, healthful activities for folks of all ages. So drop in, age regardless, and indulge in some good, old-fashioned fun. Whether you want to quickly up your game or are just trying to have some laid-back laughs with board games, the South Park Community Center at Concord Elementary is the place to be this spring.
