Gunplay in Southeast D.C. ends with a suspect behind bars and a trio of firearms seized by the Metro Police Department. The violent incident, which cracked the relative calm of a residential neighborhood, has resulted in the apprehension of 38-year-old resident Anthony Moten, Sr. under serious allegations involving the use of a firearm to commit bodily harm.

It all went down on the 1600 block of 17th Street, Southeast, in the early hours of April 12, when officers dashed to the scene of a reported shooting. An adult female was found wounded and swiftly carted off to the hospital with injuries, thankfully deemed non-life-threatening according to MPD's public release.

The case cracked wide open on April 23, nearly two weeks after the gunshots rang out, when Sixth District officers nabbed the suspect, subsequently charging him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). Moten, hailing from the very quadrant of the city where the shooting occurred, now faces not only the assault charge but also counts for Possession of Unregistered Firearms and Ammunition.
