Texas Man Accused of Shooting Brother, Leads Red Oak Police on High-Speed Chase Ending in CrashSource: Red Oak Police Department

A Texas man is facing serious charges after allegedly shooting his brother and then leading police on a dangerous chase. Authorities say the incident took place on April 24 at 5:54 PM within the confines of an apartment at the Red Oak Town Village, as reported by the Red Oak Police Department.

According to the police, Amari Nevaiah Wise, 21, made the emergency call himself admitting to the shooting, shortly after which the victim's girlfriend also reported the crime. Police arriving on the scene observed Wise trying to flee in a black 2020 Ford Eco Sport, igniting a pursuit that ended with a collision inside the apartment complex's parking lot, where Wise was apprehended and handcuffed.

The Red Oak Police Department described the chaos that ensued as law enforcement and emergency crews tended to the scenes. The victim, suffering life-threatening injuries, was airlifted to Methodist Dallas Medical Center by Careflite air ambulance. An officer involved in the vehicular collision with Wise sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to the same medical center.

Wise, a Glenn Heights resident, faces multiple charges including "Aggravated Assault w/ Serious Bodily Injury (FV)," "Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant", and "Evading arrest/detention with a vehicle," detailed the press release. Following arraignment, Wise's next stop will be the Wayne McCollum Detention Center, under the escort of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. Media inquiries are directed to Lt. Jason Esquibel, the point of contact for the case.

The department's public information officer stated that the responding officers were quick to secure both the shooting and crash scenes for investigations. Lt. Esquibel can be reached for further details, at (469) 218-7710. The chief of the Red Oak Police Department, Garland Wolf, stands by the information issued and released on April 25th, a day after the incident unfolded.
