Three boys, ages 12 to 15, are facing serious charges after they were accused of using tent poles and a tripod to assault a man in Long Beach over the weekend. The violent encounter occurred on the corner of Pacific Avenue and 1st Street late Saturday afternoon. According to KABC, the suspects entered into an argument with the man which soon turned physical as the youths struck him with the makeshift weapons.

Despite suffering injuries to his upper body, the victim managed to avoid life-threatening harm. Found at the scene by Long Beach police around 6:25 p.m., the man was treated by local fire department personnel and declined further medical care at a hospital. As detailed by NBC Los Angeles, police say the minors also threw objects at the man before fleeing.

The Long Beach Police Department quickly tracked down the juvenile trio involved in the alleged assault. The authorities disclosed that they have taken into custody a 12-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy, who also resisted arrest, and a 15-year-old boy. The young boys were booked for charges that include assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime. After running from the scene, officers located the suspects and detained them shortly thereafter.
