Two men have been arrested for a brazen armed kidnapping in Northwest DC after a sale arranged over social media went wrong. The Metropolitan Police Department's Carjacking Task Force and the FBI's Washington Field Office announced the arrests following an ordeal that began in the early hours of February 25.
The victim, who intended to sell items to one of the suspects online, was ambushed at 25th Street and L Street, Northwest. Being greeted with handguns instead of cash, the victim was forced into his vehicle and taken on a harrowing journey. The suspects drove the victim to McLean, Virginia, raiding his residence for money and property, then abandoning him in District Heights, Maryland. This nightmare ended with the victim reaching out to the Prince George's County Police Department, as detailed in a statement by the Metropolitan Police Department.
Timothy Williams, 30, of Camp Springs, MD, and Jaevonn Archer, 30, of Capitol Heights, MD, face the charge of Armed Kidnapping after their arrest on April 9. This collaboration across multiple agencies underscores the gravity of the offense, with local police departments and the FBI uniting to apprehend the criminals and send a clear message that such violent acts will be met with the full force of law enforcement.
The investigations are still ongoing, signaling an unrelenting pursuit of justice for the victim. According to the Metropolitan Police, the collaborative effort includes the Arlington County Police Department, Fairfax County Police Department, Prince George’s County Police Department, and of course, the FBI. The community waits as the suspects, now detained, prepare to face the consequences of their alleged crimes.
