Two alleged robbers have been nabbed by cops after a daylight stickup in the capital, authorities reported. The Metropolitan Police Department disclosed that the duo, part of a group of four, was involved in a street robbery that terrorized pedestrians in Northwest, D.C. on a Friday afternoon.
The victims were reportedly enjoying a stroll on the 1800 block of 11th Street, NW when suddenly a vehicle rolled up on them. The quartet of bandits stormed out and put the squeeze on, assaulting the victims before making off with their belongings. The brazen broad-daylight robbery has sent shockwaves through the community.
Quick to react, the police sleuths managed to slap the cuffs on two of the alleged perpetrators later that same day. According to a release provided by Metropolitan Police Department, the arrested are 23-year-old Corey Johnson and an unnamed 15-year-old male, both hailing from Northwest, D.C., and are currently facing charges of Robbery (Force and Violence).
Details of the heist and the subsequent snare came to light in a statement issued yesterday by the MPD, two days following the incident. The community now waits as the duo, held responsible for injecting fear into an ordinarily placid afternoon, await their day in court. Their alleged spree, now cut short, leaves a city grappling with the specter of crime that continues to loom large over its streets and its inhabitants.
