The manhunt for a murder suspect on the run ended in a quiet Texas RV park yesterday when law enforcement closed in and nabbed the fugitive. Joseph R Olivarri, a 37-year-old suspect wanted out of San Antonio, was arrested in Pleasanton after a coordinated operation by the Pleasanton Police Department and the United States Marshals Office. FOX San Antonio reported the arrest took place at a residence on the 1600 block of Frances Street, where Olivarri was spotted both entering and exiting the residence believed to be his hideout.
A release statement by the Pleasanton Police Department detailed how the bust occurred around 10 a.m., and it was the result of diligent surveillance and quick action by officers, the suspect was spotted, and then the arrest swiftly followed, but due to the fact the location of the bust was worryingly close to the Pleasanton Primary School, officials at the school were quickly informed as a precaution. The Pleasanton Express notes that US Marshals located Olivarri at the RV park after painstaking investigation and with the help of Pleasanton patrol officers and detectives, the US Marshals were able to secure the area and ensure a safe arrest.
Pleasanton's proximity to such danger didn't go unnoticed, with the patrolling officers alerting the Pleasanton ISD Police Department about the arrest being made close to a local primary school ground, ensuring that all necessary precautions were taken to safeguard the children and staff. The swift notification was part of the protocols in place for such incidents, showing the departments’ dedication to community safety.
Olivarri was booked into the Atascosa County Jail on outstanding warrants that paint a grim picture of the charges he faces: murder, aggravated assault, and a parole violation with Bexar County.
