A fire that erupted inside a Valley Village house sent two elderly women to the hospital due to smoke inhalation on Monday morning, according to authorities. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported the incident occurred around 9 a.m. at a single-story residence located at 11729 W Hartsook St. Firefighters, upon arrival, discovered the blaze burning at the rear of the home and immediately went into offensive mode to battle the inferno, LAFD reports.
Although the identities of the victims have not been disclosed, the two elderly females were swiftly taken to a hospital for treatment after suffering smoke inhalation. It took thirty-two firefighters less than 20 minutes to successfully knock down the fire. Efforts to fully understand and ascertain the cause of the fire are currently ongoing. The LAFD statement, as obtained by LAFD's alert feed, provided clear details on the number of crew members involved and the rapid response time.
The home, nestled within Council District 2, saw a rapid dispatch of emergency personnel following the alert. Medical units, alongside firefighters from various stations, including Battalion 14, were part of the response team. Paramedics at the scene treated the patients before transporting them to an area hospital, a later LAFD alert indicated.
The fire incident in Valley Village highlights the constant danger posed by residential fires, especially to vulnerable populations such as the elderly. While the LAFD's swift action undoubtedly prevented a potential escalation, the community was starkly reminded of the ever-present need for vigilance and fire safety. Investigation processes, always meticulous and thorough, are set to continue until investigators can definitively pinpoint the fire's origin and cause.
