The hunt is on for an inmate on the lam after making an unceremonious exit from Delta Conservation Camp in Solano County. James Xiong, 36, last saw Monday at the kick-off of the day's first meal at 7:00 a.m. Law enforcement is combing the area to secure his return. According to the Solano County Sheriff's Office, in a post on their Facebook page, Xiong's disappearance triggered an immediate and thorough search of the facility, although he remains at large.
Standing 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds, the missing man has brown eyes and black hair. Decked out in a nondescript gray sweatshirt and pants uniform, Xiong faded into the scene's backdrop before slipping his confines. With his admission to the camp from Fresno County on September 19, 2022, the Sheriff's Office stated that Xiong was serving time for robbery-related charges and was not due for release until May 2025.
Collaborative efforts between the California Department Of Corrections and Rehabilitation, CAL FIRE, and local badges have ramped up the response sensitivity, leaving no stone unturned to recapture Xiong. Authorities urge anyone with even a flicker of information concerning his whereabouts to dial into the Delta Conservation Camp Commander at (707) 425-4878, reach out to any law enforcement body, or call 911 pronto.
The case is hardly an anomaly – since 1977, those who ditch their caged confines without permission almost always find their gambit short-lived. An impressive 99 percent find themselves back in custody, suggesting that absentees like Xiong, who seek to interrupt their state-sponsored sabbatical, are likely to find their stretch of freedom ephemeral, the Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office explained.
