Cadillac has thrown its hat into the ring of entry-level luxury electric SUVs with the unveiling of its 2025 Optiq EV, a vehicle that's set to turn heads and challenge competitors in the increasingly crowded market. The sleek design doesn't just catch the eye, the Cadillac Optiq boasts a decent 300 miles of range on a full charge and a hearty 300 horsepower under its hood, with prices starting from a competitive $54,000.
The prestigious American automaker is positioning the Optiq as the epitome of luxury, draped in monarch orange, and equipped with 21-inch wheels and the iconic Cadillac crest. The Optiq, distinctly catered to the eco-conscious luxury buyer, features fast-charging capabilities that allow for a 79-mile boost in just a 10-minute plug-in, as per a first look provided by CBS News Detroit.
Inside, tech enthusiasts will revel in the expansive almost three-foot display and the refined AKG sound system complete with Dolby Atmos. Cadillac guarantees state-of-the-art cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors across the vehicle, ensuring a seamless and secure driving experience. The Optiq is set to include Google built-in but will skip out on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, as revealed by Techopedia.
As for the interior, drivers can anticipate a cargo room that leads its category, as well as a spacious second row for comfort in longer commutes or road trips. While the base model comes well-equipped, Cadillac plans to offer Luxury, and Sport trim levels for those seeking an edge in aesthetics or performance.
With a pledge to attract luxury EV intenders, Cadillac is pinning its hopes on the Optiq as an entry point for new customers looking to make the switch to electric without losing the opulence Cadillac is known for. "Cadillac has always defined American luxury, and OPTIQ is an example of how our bold, innovative spirit is propelling us into the EV future," John Roth, Vice President of Cadillac Global, said, per Teslarati. The addition of the Optiq to Cadillac's electric portfolio is part of a broader General Motors plan to expand its EV holdings, aiming for a fully electric lineup by the end of the decade. The Optiq is scheduled to arrive on dealership floors by late this year, and while the starting price is announced at $54,000, dealers will ultimately set the final price.
