Cracking down in counties wide and far – from Alameda to Orange – Newsom's Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce has been a tour de force, raking in $406 million since its 2022 launch through a hearty diet of 256 search warrants, per their tally, as reported by the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom. The task force has been a wrecking ball, crushing nearly 410,000 illegal plants; all this with the helping hands of California's Department of Cannabis Control, Department of Fish and Wildlife, and a host of other state agencies, plus a tag-team effort with federal and local law dogs.
