Chandler's downtown is set to receive a significant facelift as the city embarks on three capital improvement projects, with construction already in full swing. The undertaking aims to enhance the aesthetics, accessibility, and infrastructure of the bustling downtown area, as reported on May 1st by the City of Chandler.

Work on Boston Street will kick off the week of May 6. The project plans to completely revamp the street from San Marcos Place to California Street. In a bid to better accommodate traffic and pedestrians, the city will not only reconstruct the travel lanes but also install new sidewalks, curbs, and gutter improvements. Additionally, ADA adjustments and adding a drop-off zone for restaurants and shops are on the agenda. Construction is pegged to conclude by fall 2024, according to City of Chandler officials.

The revitalization spree continues along Wall Street, where pedestrian-friendly enhancements from Chicago Street to Frye Road are underway. Following the recent completion of utility undergrounding, the street will soon undergo transformation into primarily a pedestrian pathway. The facelift includes new stamped asphalt, overhead lighting, and fresh landscaping, aimed at connecting Downtown South with the Historic Square.

In early June, Chandler City Hall's adjacent parking lot and alley will see extensive upgrades. This aspect of the downtown overhaul is set to include repaving, improved lighting and the addition of a trash enclosure. Business access during this period is expected to remain uninterrupted, with alternate parking suggested on Arizona Avenue, Chicago Street, Buffalo Street, and Frye Road.
