Early morning tragedy struck the city of Lake Elsinore yesterday when a driver was killed in a harrowing single-vehicle crash. According to a statement obtained by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the incident unfolded on May 2, around 5:45 a.m. on Lake Street east of Mountain Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies, alongside Cal Fire, discovered the driver trapped and were unable to save the individual, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's department has yet to release the identity of the deceased, as they have been working to notify next of kin. Despite the efforts to quickly aid the crash victim, the situation was grim, with life-saving measures failing to revive the ill-fated motorist. The Lake Elsinore Station's Traffic Unit has now taken over to rigorously investigate the collision, looking into all possible factors that may have led up to the fatal moment.
