Authorities have recently apprehended a man in relation to a distressing case of animal neglect in Harris County. Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office were alerted to a situation involving two dogs trapped in a stationary vehicle for over four hours. The incident transpired on the 7500 block of N. Sam Houston Fwy W, as reported by concerned bystanders on May 18, according to Constable Mark Herman's official Facebook page.
The deputies tracked down the dogs' owner, identified as Darryl McKnight, who was subsequently found to have been at the said location during the period when the animals were left unattended. The Harris County SPCA took both dogs into custody after McKnight's four-hour stint.
But the plot thickened as investigators dug deeper into McKnight's past animal-related transgressions. It was discovered that in March, his horses had been seized by the same SPCA crew for similar reasons. Moreover, McKnight had an active warrant for Cruelty to Livestock stemming from a separate incident in Brazoria County.
Ultimately, "Darryl McKnight was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with two counts of Animal Cruelty. His total bond was set at $200.00 out of County Court 11." Constable Mark Herman stated.
