Hesperia Woman on Federal Probation Arrested for Alleged Meth Possession in AdelantoSource: Facebook/Victorville Police Department

In a routine traffic stop gone awry, a Hesperia woman with a history of narcotics charges was busted Thursday night for allegedly carrying a hefty stash of meth. San Bernardino County Sheriff's officials said Sylvia Nunez, 57, was pulled over for vehicular code violations just before 9pm on Mojave Drive in the sleepy city of Adelanto.

According to a statement obtained from the Sheriff-Coroner's Department, Deputy A. Mahli, upon running a check, found Nunez to be on active federal probation for drug offenses. A search of her red Ford Mustang purportedly turned up approximately 2 ounces of methamphetamine. Nunez was promptly arrested, seemingly to add yet another chapter to her history with controlled substances.

The Sheriff's Department said she was booked at the High Desert Detention Center without further incident. The red Mustang, which turned out to be a little more than just a vehicle in transit, was the scene where the illicit substances were allegedly found.

Nunez's run-in with the law has sparked another investigation, encouraging anyone with information to come forward. Deputy Mahli can be reached at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, or tipsters can choose to anonymously report to We-Tip. Details on the case, released by the department, highlight an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking in the region.
