Tragedy struck Jurupa Valley on Sunday afternoon when a shooting claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy. Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station raced to a hospital in Riverside at about 3:54 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim, according to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Despite emergency responders' desperate efforts, the young victim could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses were questioned at the hospital, where the fatal crime scene was located on the 10100 block of Ben Nevis Boulevard in Jurupa Valley, Sergeant Alberto Loureiro reported.
The name of the juvenile has been withheld by authorities due to his age. Personnel from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station, the Central Homicide Unit, and the Coroner's Bureau were alerted and subsequently, took over the investigation scene.
The hunt for answers is now in full swing, with the Central Homicide Unit spearheading the investigation into the boy's untimely death. As of now, the investigation continues, and the authorities have kept details close to the chest, releasing no additional information at the moment.
