The reported human remains discovered in a Loma Linda neighborhood have been confirmed as non-human after examination by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office. Initially found at a residence in the 11400 block of San Timoteo Canyon Road on May 19, the bones were the focus of a death investigation that has since taken an unexpected turn. The sheriff's department had reached out for assistance from the public earlier in the week to aid in their investigation.
Much to the relief of local residents, the discovery initially believed to mark the scene of some past tragedy, turned out to be something other than human — the details disclosed by the Sheriff-Coroner's Department on May 22. According to a statement obtained by Nixle, further tests by the coroner's office's personnel led to this determination that has pivoted the story from a death investigation to one of less dire consequences.
Initially sparking both interest and concern, images captured by SkyFOX showed a solemn scene: a patrol vehicle stationed in front of the home where the remains were found, described by Hoodline in previous reporting. The property, juxtaposed against the backdrop of the regular comings and goings of a moving truck, hinted at a narrative that, for a moment, merged suburban life with the possibility of hidden past transgressions.
The focus will now likely shift, as the examination by the coroner's office has allayed fears of a criminal element underlying the find. Detective Michael Roth of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division, who had been previously leading the inquiry with an urgency underscored by the uncertainty of the remains' origin, will adjust the investigation accordingly. The sheriff's department, still eager to understand the entirety of the circumstances, maintains its request for public assistance in the investigation.
