Tragedy struck on the 1800 block of Gardenia Avenue when reports of gunfire ended in a man’s death, the Long Beach Police Department disclosed an ongoing homicide investigation following the shooting that took place in broad daylight on May 29, 2024.
According to the Long Beach Police Department's press release, multiple calls alerted officers to the sound of a gunshot at approximately 1:25 p.m., where law enforcement found the male victim with an upper body gunshot wound and despite the immediate medical attention and attempted life-saving efforts by officers and then the Long Beach Fire Department personnel upon their arrival, the victim was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The search for answers has homicide detectives hitting the pavement, as they revealed a male suspect is believed to have confronted the victim in an alley near Gardenia Avenue before firing the lethal shot and then fleeing the scene on foot before officers arrived, the nature of this cold-blooded killing remains a piercing question mark as the detectives hunt for motives.
