A cache of firearms and narcotics was seized by the Long Beach Police Department's High Crime Focus Team during a raid this past Monday. Armed police converged on the 500 block of Elm Avenue around 4:18 p.m. on a tip about a person brandishing a gun. Their investigation led to a search warrant and subsequent bust, according to the LBPD.
The surveillance and intervention effort yielded five firearms, an unspecified quantity of drugs, and ammunition. The LBPD's press release further stated that the suspect, who authorities discovered is legally prohibited from possessing firearms, was apprehended. The High Crime Focus Team, proactive in reducing firearm-related offenses, typically works to swiftly track down and ensure the apprehension of suspects, as was the case this time.
Despite the clear danger posed by the firearms and drugs, there were thankfully no reports of shots fired or injuries related to the incident, as reported by the LBPD.
