A Manchester City councilwoman is under fire after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested her for allegedly falsifying her criminal history on official election documents. Tameka "Meka" Lowe, 46, faces charges including two counts of false swearing and one count of violating the oath of a public officer, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Accusations against Lowe surfaced when she was elected to fill a vacant seat on the Manchester City Council, at which point she is said to have altered her criminal record information on a Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit. The Georgia Bureau of Investigationwas called in to investigate by Manchester Police on February 8. Furthermore, she is accused of giving a false City of Manchester Oath of Public Officer after securing her council position, details obtained by WSBTV.

Lowe was subsequently booked at the Meriwether County Jail. The investigation has been described as active, and ongoing, with the GBI urging anyone with potentially relevant information to make contact via their Columbus office or through various anonymous tip channels including a hotline, an online submission form, and a mobile app.

Notably, this isn't Lowe's first brush with law enforcement as she was previously detained in November 2021 while window shopping on Thanksgiving night, and again in April 2022, when arrested outside her marketing business. The latter incident involved her alleged refusal to identify herself to a police officer, igniting a public storm when video footage circulated on social media. The outcome of Lowe's current legal entanglement will depend on the completion of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's inquiry, which will be followed by the Meriwether County District Attorney's Office undertaking the prosecution, as mentioned in reports.
