A violent altercation at an Atlanta gas station has landed one woman behind bars after another was shot and rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Atlanta Police Department has apprehended Briana Abner on the night of May 15, 2024, after responding to a distressing scene at a Chevron located at 3012 Jonesboro Rd., as reported by Atlanta News First.
Officers hitting the scene around 11:10 p.m. found that the victim had already been sent to undergo treatment; they then spoke with the injured party at the hospital, who recounted being shot by Abner during a scuffle and gave a description of her assailant and her getaway vehicle, causing the cops to canvass the area until they spotted the specified car near Cleveland Avenue, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Arrest records show that Abner is now facing a slew of charges including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs, and an additional theft by taking charge stemming from an incident on May 6, 2024. Following the heated exchange, Abner reportedly attempted to evade capture leading to a vehicle crash on Jonesboro Road where the police then apprehended her, and discovered a firearm in her vehicle.
The cascade of events now finds Abner confined within the walls of Fulton County Jail as the investigation continues to piece together the circumstances that erupted in gunfire at the southeast Atlanta fuel station. For now, details remain scant as law enforcement officials dive deeper into the conflict that escalated to gun violence on a city's roadway—more information will be released as it becomes available.
