Mayhem erupted on the streets of Highland earlier this month, resulting in the arrest of a Menifee teenager for the attempted carjacking of a sheriff's patrol unit. In a chaotic scene, where an illegal street takeover took place, a youth took it upon himself to challenge the law in the most direct way imaginable.

The incident, which transpired in the early hours of May 11, involved roughly 100 individuals who blocked the intersection at Victoria Avenue and Highland Avenue for their disruptive automotive displays. According to a report by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, festivities took a criminal turn when an unsuspecting deputy found his patrol vehicle under siege, with the mob beginning to attack the car by kicking and punching it.

Evidence gathered during the investigation led to the identification of a 15-year-old male juvenile participating actively in the onslaught. The teen not only damaged the vehicle but also proceeded to open the driver's door, aiming to take control from the deputy inside. The officer, however, managed to fend off the attempt and escape to safety.

Investigative efforts culminated on May 23 with the arrest of the juvenile at his home, the Sheriff's Department confirmed. The arrest came following a warrant issued for his detainment, and after a search warrant had been served at the same location the juvenile was booked into the San Bernardino County Juvenile Hall, facing charges of attempted carjacking and felony vandalism.
