The search for 61-year-old Theodore Cannon, who was reported missing after being discharged from St. Mary's Hospital in Long Beach, has concluded as he was found safe and unharmed, authorities confirmed Thursday. The Long Beach Police Department had earlier appealed to the public to aid in locating Cannon, emphasizing his at-risk status due to mental health conditions.
Cannon, who had vanished on May 15, was last seen leaving the hospital at 1000 Linden Avenue. His absence caused great concern, given he was without a car, cell phone, or tracking device, and possessed an unspecified amount of cash. According to the Long Beach Police Department's notification, the authorities were unsure of Cannon's intended destination when he left the hospital premises.
Descriptions provided by the police depicted Cannon as a Black male, about 5'7" tall, and weighing approximately 160 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen suited in a green Nike hoodie and black pants. For additional visibility, police released his information including the absence of identifiable scars, marks, or tattoos.
Before being found, concerns regarding Cannon's safety were heightened due to the lack of his communication means and his mental health issues. Being under a conservatorship, his unsupervised departure from the hospital sparked immediate action from the Long Beach Police, who initiated an exhaustive search. As reported by Hoodline, Cannon had a history of going missing and had previously been located in areas close to where he was last seen.
Long Beach Police have thanked the public for their assistance and vigilance in helping to ensure Cannon's safe return.
