The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has apprehended yet another teenager in connection to a brazen retail theft at a Navy Yard CVS, marking the ninth arrest in this string of lawlessness. According to official reports, on the night of April 16, a group of teens swarmed into the CVS on New Jersey Avenue, Southeast and pilfered merchandise, dodging payment and managed to engage in an assault near the Washington Monument just before the theft.

The theft at CVS escalated when an officer responding to the scene took a hit to the leg from a bottle hurled by one of the suspects. During the same incident, a security guard inside the store narrowly missed being the target of a similar throw. On May 10, a 15-year-old female from Southeast, DC was taken into custody, facing charges for Simple Assault, and two counts of Aggravated Assault, "as a result of the detectives’ investigation," MPD confirmed.

This recent arrest adds to the MPD's ongoing efforts to bring all involved to justice. Previously, eight teenagers were arrested in connection with the incident at the CVS. The list of charges is extensive: from Aggravated Assault to Burglary and Theft, not to mention Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

A 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female, both from Southeast, DC, are among those swept up by law enforcement, with charges including Burglary 2nd Degree and Aggravated Assault. As the MPD continues their search, they have stressed that these incidents underscore a larger issue of juvenile crime in the District.

MPD officials are persistent in their hunt for additional suspects still at large, reminding the public that this ongoing investigation is crucial in maintaining safety and order in the community. Anyone with further information is encouraged to reach out to the authorities as the search for the remaining culprits presses on.
