
A tragic incident unfolded in North Hollywood on Saturday morning as a pedestrian was struck and killed by a southbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Train, causing a temporary halt in the area around 6900 Vineland Ave, according to Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reports.
The event occurred near Vanowen Street and just outside the Hollywood Burbank Airport, the situation drew responses from emergency services at 9:44 a.m., there the unidentified individual was pronounced dead at the scene, a brief glimpse of the aftermath could be seen in a bystander's video featuring the halted train intercepting the flow of traffic along Vineland Avenue, this footage was shared by KABC.
Firefighters and paramedics marked off the vicinity with yellow tape, standing in marked contrast to the comings and goings of the unsuspecting passengers aboard the train, among which none of the approximately 150 were harmed during the incident as confirmed by fire officials from KTLA.
While the investigation remained ongoing, authorities from Amtrak and the LAPD Valley Traffic Division were engaged in piecing together the circumstances leading to this fatal encounter, the train itself a static testimony to the moments that led to a life ending too soon, media inquiries were directed towards these departments as outlined by LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey, amidst this, the train and the person remained at the scene.
