Philadelphia is facing a bout of unsettled weather conditions with forecasts predicting a mix of thunderstorms, showers, and minor coastal flooding. Today's weather will see patchy fog clearing up, heading to partly sunny skies and highs of around 80 degrees, with a calm switch from a north to a southwest wind in the afternoon, as per the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

Tonight, the odds are looking grim with a 60% chance of precipitation, including possible showers and thunderstorms rolling in between 3am and 5am. The National Weather Service advised that "showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5am" could disrupt the predawn peace, coupled with patchy fog and temperatures bottoming out at a low of around 62 degrees. While rainfall amounts are expected to be less than a tenth of an inch, thunderstorms might cause higher downpours.

Turning to Wednesday, the day will start with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8am, and another round of patchy fog. Eventually, the clouds will give way to mostly sunny skies with a high near 85 degrees, and gusts might reach as high as 20 mph. Any lingering droplets should be nothing more than a drizzle, with new rainfall predictions sticking under a tenth of an inch.

Ahead of the weekend, Thursday's forecast brings a certitude of showers and potential thunderstorms after 2pm, with precipitation chances soaring to 80%. "New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible," highlighted the National Weather Service. The tempestuous weather is set to continue into Thursday night, as storms are slated to persist mainly before 2am, followed by a potential encore of showers and thunderstorms after the dark hours.

In terms of hazards, a Coastal Flood Advisory is firmly in place starting from midnight tonight until the wee hours of Wednesday morning. According to the National Weather Service, "Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways." The affected regions include Northwestern Burlington, Philadelphia, Eastern Montgomery, and Lower Bucks. Citizens are advised to heed road closures and prepare for possible flooding, with the Delaware River in both Burlington and Philadelphia at risk of rising tides and minor overflows.

The advisory gave specifics stating, "At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads along tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible." The National Weather Service also stated that "Another round of minor coastal flooding will be possible overnight Wednesday night." Residents are urged to stay vigilant, follow local authority directions, and report significant weather conditions as they unfold.
