Philly's long-time center has snapped up a new position, but not on the gridiron—Jason Kelce is now taking his talents to the television studio. Fresh off the field, the Eagles stalwart has just penned a multi-year deal to join the ESPN team as part of its "Monday Night Countdown" crew. Sports Illustrated reports that Kelce will be making weekly appearances each NFL season.
Not one to sit still in retirement, the six-time All-Pro and likely Hall of Fame shoe-in will bring his expertise to ESPN’s coverage, kicking off the regular season and extending into the playoffs. According to Sports Illustrated, each halftime during "Monday Night Football" and ESPN playoff games, Kelce will dissect plays and strategies with the likes of Scott Van Pelt and Ryan Clark. Starting September 9, when the 49ers square off against the Jets, fans can catch his first assignment, proudly wearing the broadcasting helmet.
The terms of Kelce's contract have been kept under wraps, but an ESPN statement confirmed these dealings involve a multi-year commitment. This transition marks a major career shift for Kelce, who's been a bedrock for Philadelphia's O-line through thick and thin on the field.
Eagles enthusiasts might miss seeing number 62 in action, but they'll still get their Kelce fix on-screen. "Album drops 9/9. Group name and first single still tbd," host Scott Van Pelt teased on social media, sharing a snapshot of the new broadcast team, FOX 29 relayed. Looking ahead to Super Bowl LXI, viewers should be ready for plenty of Kelce as he chips in on ESPN’s Super Bowl coverage hosted in Los Angeles come 2027.
