Philadelphia police are set to shed more light on the gruesome discovery of a mother and daughter who were found slain in their home earlier this week. The victims, identified as Angelo Trejo, 75, and Alma Barberena, 58, were found with multiple stab wounds in the basement of their residence on the 6000 block of Bingham Street. According to FOX 29, the bodies were discovered Tuesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.

Early reports suggest that there was no forced entry into the home, which has led to increased speculation amongst the community members. "You would think that this is a very safe environment," Marylee Rodriguez, a neighbor, told NBC10. "So for two women to be dead, that breaks my heart. Honestly speaking."

The police department has called a press conference for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, where officials are expected to update the public with new information regarding the double homicide. The community remains shocked as the yellow brick house was once a symbol of the peace that pervaded the neighborhood.

The press conference is also set to address another violent incident – the shooting death of a teenage boy in Roxborough. Philadelphia is grappling with the tragedies as law enforcement officials try to piece together who is responsible and bring solace to a city that is trying to make sense of the violence shaking its streets.
