A Pomona man faces a slew of charges involving sexual crimes against minors, following a sting operation by local detectives. Damien Gieng, 26, is accused of engaging in illicit activities with a 16-year-old girl he met via a social media application, fully aware of her age, authorities say.
The investigation, which unfolded in the quiet streets of Chino Hills, began on May 21 with detectives probing into the unsettling report of a sexual encounter between the underage girl and an adult male. Gieng's alleged crimes include oral copulation with a minor, sexual penetration, and the possession of obscene materials, among others. According to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, detectives posed as a young girl online to lure Gieng to a meet-up, leading to his capture at The Shoppes in Chino Hills on May 30.
While Gieng sits in West Valley Detention Center, the authorities have initiated a public appeal for potential additional victims to come forward, endorsing the release of Gieng's photograph. A second young victim has already emerged from the shadows following his arrest, suggesting a pattern that detectives are keen to dismantle.
