In the early hours of May 13, a dispute turned violent in a Santa Rosa transitional housing complex when a man was allegedly stabbed by his roommate. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD), officers arrived at a local hospital following a report of a man treated for stab wounds. The 34-year-old victim, found with injuries to his torso and arm, is said to have walked into the emergency department of his own volition, sparking an investigation into the incident.

The SRPD's Violent Crimes Investigations Team (VCI) took charge, unraveling details that suggested the stabbing stemmed from an argument between the victim and a man identified as Tommy Lewis, a 41-year-old Santa Rosa local. Both men were residents at the same transitional housing facility for individuals released from correctional institutions on probation, parole, or Post Release Community Supervision. The altercation allegedly occurred at their residence on Bennett Valley Road, where Lewis is accused of inflicting the wounds with a sharp object, police reports claim.

Lewis, who conformed peacefully when officers arrived at his residence, faces charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon and violation of Post Release Community Supervision. The SRPD patrol officers who detained him subsequently handed him over to the custody of Sonoma County Jail. Meanwhile, detectives served a search warrant at the housing complex, collecting blood-stained clothing and four knives, which will undergo further examination to confirm their involvement in the stabbing.

More details may be released as the SRPD VCI detectives continue their probe into the case. The SRPD has assured that the victim's wounds, although serious, are not deemed life-threatening. Sgt. Patricia Seffens, Public Information Officer for the SRPD, is the point of contact for media inquiries regarding the ongoing investigation.
