Los Angeles' noodle lovers are in for a treat as Silverlake Ramen, the bowl behemoth with a cult-like following, beefs up its presence in the city with two more outposts set to open in North Hollywood and Downey. According to What Now Los Angeles, the expanding franchise plans to have its NoHo location up and running by mid-June, while Downey residents can expect to start slurping down noodles by mid-September.
True to form, the Downey branch is pushing the convenience envelope with a self-service kiosk, making it easier for diners to order without waiting their turn to be served by restaurant staff—as revealed by the franchise. The Silverlake Ramen brand resonates with a vibe that's both relaxed and confidently unconventional, a feeling reflected, “The Silverlake family unapologetically does our food our way. We embrace the neighborhoods that we call home and passionately share the inspirations, influences and attitudes that helped shape our authentic take on a savory dining experience,” as the Silverlake Ramen website states.
The new locations, in NoHo at 6130 Laurel Canyon Blvd. Suite 145 and in Downey at 8428 Firestone Blvd, will continue the tradition of serving the familiar menu that has placed Silverlake Ramen on Los Angeles' culinary map. Fans of the franchise can expect to indulge in beloved appetizers like gyoza, bao buns, edamame, and chicken karrage; a variety of bowls including spicy tuna, pork, and Soboro; along with an array of ramen flavors such as classic, garlic truffle, cajun and more.
And for the ramen empire, this is just the beginning—or so claims franchise owner Young Kim, eyeing at least four more locations to open in the future. With a well-established fan base and a knack for hitting the mark when it comes to hearty bowls of ramen, Silverlake's expansion in the city is a sure sign that Los Angeles' appetite for ramen shows no signs of waning. Diners can expect the same high-quality, savory experiences that the original spots have been dishing out for years.
