A shootout in the streets of Southeast DC led to a man finally turning himself in two months after gunfire erupted. According to a police report, an altercation took place on March 7 in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace, where words turned to violence as the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim following an argument.
Fleeing the scene, the suspect evaded capture for over two months. Miraculously surviving, the victim found their way to hospital care where their wounds were described as non-life-threatening. Witnesses said the shooter was none other than 30-year-old Keith Walker, a Southwest DC resident.
On the lam since March, Walker made the unexpected decision to surrender to the authorities on May 15. He showed up at the Seventh District Police Station ready to face the legal music for his alleged crime. The officers arrested him on the spot, slapping him with the charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), as stated in a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.
While the details of the argument remain unclear, the consequences are all too sharp in focus. Walker, now in police custody, awaits his date with the court system to answer for the charge levied against him.
