Seattle residents can put away the heavy rain gear, at least for part of the weekend. With an overcast sky, temperatures are hovering around the mid-40s this morning, but sunnier skies are expected to come our way. Today's forecast promises a mostly sunny day, with the mercury climbing to a pleasant 61 degrees, despite a slight 20 percent chance of showers before and after the peak afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service.
The calm breeze that characterizes our Pacific reprieve will persist throughout the day, providing a gentle reminder that the wet season has not yet waved its final goodbye. Tonight, the skies stay partially clear as the temperature dips to a low of around 45 degrees. As the week progresses, however, change looms on the horizon, with the NWS predicting a welcomed shift to mostly sunny skies on Monday and a high near 67.
But don't get used to the dry spell. The weather takes a turn on Tuesday, with rain expected to hit, as a 90 percent chance of precipitation could bring between a quarter and half an inch of new rainfall. Showers are likely to continue into the evening, forecasting a soggy end to the day.
Midweek, Wednesday invites a hint of uncertainty with the likelihood of morning showers before the skies clear to partly sunny, and a high near 59 degrees, more rain could catch Seattleites by surprise on Thursday night, so keep those umbrellas handy. The beat of rainfall will rhythmically accompany us towards the weekend, with chances of showers persisting through Friday into Saturday, though we might enjoy some periods of sun amidst the droplets.
