The streets of Long Beach became a crime scene once again, as the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded to reports of gunfire on May 8. Upon their arrival at the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue, officers discovered a man fatally wounded by gunfire. Identified as 28-year-old resident Tyrone Parks III, the victim succumbed to his injuries despite immediate medical aid attempts by officers and the Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who declared him deceased at the scene, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.
The Long Beach authorities promptly launched a homicide investigation. They have now apprehended a suspect, 29-year-old Xabian Che Brown of Temecula, according to the LBPD. Brown, now facing charges including murder and ex-felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, was booked with bail set at $2 million.
Investigators believe the victim and the suspect knew each other and were engaged in a dispute that escalated to a fatal shooting. The precise motive behind the gunfire is still under investigation, with detectives working diligently to put together the pieces of that tragic night's events.
The LBPD is not alone in their quest for answers; they are reaching out to the community for assistance. Individuals with any information regarding the crime are urged to step forward and contact Homicide Detectives Sean Magee or Juan Carlos Reyes at 562-570-7244. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through "LA Crime Stoppers." As per Hoodline, the LBPD emphasized their commitment to bringing closure to the case.
