Two students from Westwood High School were struck by a vehicle on Tuesday near the school's Mesa campus, with both juveniles requiring hospitalization for their injuries. According to 12 News, the incident took place close to the intersection of Rio Salado Parkway and Country Club Drive, and the police reported that the involved driver stopped and remained at the scene.

The accident happened in the afternoon around 3:30 p.m. on the north side of the school, the two victims, identified only as juveniles, were said to be in stable condition following the crash which disrupted traffic, the area saw potential delays as authorities investigated the scene, and the aftermath continued to affect the vicinity. The Mesa Police Department is still piecing together the circumstances that led to the two students being hit.
