A grim scene unfolded at a Victorville motel where a young man was fatally shot during an altercation last Friday afternoon. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Office reported that deputies responded to the Motel 6 located at 16868 Stoddard Wells Road after receiving a distress call regarding a shooting incident.

Upon their arrival just past 1:26 p.m., deputies discovered Jontae Marsh, a 19-year-old resident of Victorville, suffering from gunshot wounds. Efforts to quickly transport the victim to a local hospital were made, but Marsh tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, said authorities. The incident, which has since spiraled to quickly to become a homicide investigation, led to the detention and questioning of multiple individuals present at the scene.

Subsequent investigations conducted by the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail, revealed that a heated physical clash between the victim and 29-year-old Terry Williams had escalated fatally. According to detectives, Williams had accessed a firearm from his vehicle during the fracas and proceeded to shoot Marsh. The official report stated that Williams, also from Victorville, was arrested for murder and is being held at the High Desert Detention Center without bail.

As the Sheriff-Coroner's Office continues to unravel the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of young life, they urge anyone with information to step forward.
