The San Jose Police Department announced the arrests of 46 individuals connected to sexual assault cases in a massive warrant sweep conducted over the past few months. The operation, which spanned from February 1 to April 30, led to arrests for a range of alleged offenses, from misdemeanor sexual assaults to more severe felony charges, including the sexual assault of minors and rape, according to a statement by the department.

Coordinated efforts were the backbone of the sweep, with the San Jose Police Department's Patrol Officers working alongside the Street Crimes Unit and Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit (SAIU) Detectives to apprehend individuals with outstanding warrants. Among the 46 arrests, three were made outside of California, with suspects apprehended in Wyoming, Louisiana, and New Mexico. In an effort that spanned multiple states and connected years, ranging from incidents alleged to have happened in 2019 to 2024, the coordination indicated the seriousness with which San José is tackling this insidious crime wave.

Acting Chief of Police Paul Joseph lauded the work of the SAIU, saying, "Our SAIU Detectives do an outstanding job in holding these perpetrators accountable, allowing our survivors to begin their healing process and to have a peace of mind." His remarks underscore the Department's commitment to supporting survivors of sexual assault and taking alleged offenders off the streets.

While the recent arrests mark a significant step, the Police Department acknowledged the possibility of additional victims and has encouraged anyone with information related to these cases to contact the Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit. Conducted with the support of the local community, with the police providing avenues for anonymous tipping through the P3TIPS mobile app, the crime tip line, or the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers website, they are hoping to unearth further details that may assist in ongoing investigations.
