In a significant crackdown, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department arrested 56 individuals—37 adults and 19 juveniles—following a car club sideshow incident in Adelanto, as reported by Nixle. The events leading to the arrests began on May 11, when a deputy stumbled upon a street takeover while en route to another call at the intersection of Highland and Victoria avenues.
Deputies were faced with an unruly crowd that vandalized a Sheriff’s patrol vehicle—surrounding it, the spectators damaged the windshield and body panels. In the widening scope of the investigation into the local car clubs known for street takeovers and sideshows, one can see deputies uncovering a pattern of reckless displays, some involving stolen vehicles and even firearms brandished openly, as per videos surfaced on social media.
Investigators pinpointed one of the meeting spots for these car clubs—the private property in Adelanto. During "Operation Consequences" enacted on June 1, personnel from multiple stations and divisions undertook a suppression operation, detaining participants as they attempted to flee from the abandoned property where the sideshow was taking place. San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus issued a stern warning in the aftermath, declaring, "This type of recklessness won’t be tolerated in San Bernardino County. Arrests will be assured, and cars will be impounded if these street-takeovers continue," as stated in a Nixle report.
Upon their arrest, the adults involved were processed at the High Desert Detention Center but were later cited and released. In a procedure meant to bring them before the law, the juveniles were cited at the Victorville City Sheriff’s Station and released to their families. In the course of the event, 23 vehicles were also towed, and a stolen Chevrolet Camaro was recovered. Anyone with additional information on the incident is urged to reach out to the Victorville Police Station or the Sheriff's Dispatch, with the option to remain anonymous through the We-Tip Hotline or its website.
