According to ABC7 Chicago, a pair of women set sail from Evanston in a 12-foot sailboat which succumbed to the waters at dusk. One of them managed to swim roughly two miles to the shore early Monday morning, where she asked for help.

The woman, whose age was not disclosed, informed the Winnetka Fire Department that her companion, a 50-year-old woman, remained lost at sea. The fire department, alongside the Coast Guard, swiftly commenced a quest to find the missing boater. It took several hours before rescue teams located her a mile off the northern shore of Winnetka at approximately 7:00 A.M. She was then transported to Chicago's Montrose Harbor, yet her condition was not immediately known.

In an unrelated but equally unsettling incident, a search is underway for a 58-year-old man who reportedly fell off a boat and into Lake Michigan. This event occurred in the vicinity of the "Playpen," a notorious hotspot close to downtown Chicago known for boating and partying. The man, whose identity has not yet been released, did not resurface after falling into the lake on Saturday afternoon, which instigated efforts by divers and the police following the report. According to a piece from the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago police stated the investigation is still active.

The tragedies occurring in the Playpen area have been adding up over the recent years, often culminating in fatal or severe consequences. Just last year, a woman tragically lost her life, and another was critically injured when a boat they were on hit a breakwall. Not long after, there was an incident where a woman's feet were horrendously severed due to a boating accident.
