In a display of unity against an act of vandalism, residents of an Anaheim neighborhood have come together in a vibrant display of multi-colored Pride flags, replacing the one that was slashed by unknown vandals in front of a local gay couple's home. As reported by KTLA, the couple, Jake Nolan and his partner Jon, had their Pride flag torn down and destroyed on June 15, an act that was caught by their home surveillance system. The community's response was swift, with neighbors lifting more flags in solidarity with the couple.

Following the hateful incident and the couple's sharing of the ordeal on a neighborhood Facebook page, neighbors such as Elia Renteria stepped forward with an offer that caught the community in an embrace of support. "I said, I’m going to order 10 flags. If you guys want a flag, we can show solidarity and we can all show support," Renteria said, in a statement obtained by KTLA. The gesture sparked a larger movement within the neighborhood, leading many residents to display the flags prominently. Despite the initial shock over the malicious act, Nolan and his partner refused to let it dampen their Pride spirit, replacing their flag immediately.

Neighbors began placing Pride flags on their homes, with Renteria's basket of flags quickly depleting. "The street looks beautiful to see all the flags coming out," Renteria told NBC Los Angeles. This display of support extended throughout the street, illuminating the neighborhood with the colors of the rainbow and a powerful message of solidarity.
