It was an unexpected turn of events in North Port Wednesday evening when a car took a literal dive into a neighborhood swimming pool following a hit-and-run incident. According to WFLA, the driver was navigating through a roundabout near Brimstone Hill Boulevard when their journey met with an abrupt, aquatic end thanks to another vehicle that subsequently fled the scene.
The North Port Fire Rescue responded to the splashdown in the Oasis neighborhood of Wellen Park where no injuries were reported. Nonetheless, firefighters had the unexpected task of reeling a car out of the community pool, as described by MySunCoast. Officials are still fishing for leads on the driver of the second vehicle, who, in the aftermath of the collision, decided to vanish from the scene.
In what could have been a scene straight out of an action movie, the community pool became an unintended parking spot. "The car that ended up in the pool was originally just trying to navigate a roundabout. While they were taking their turn around, a second car came in and propelled them out of the roadway, forcing them into the pool," MySunCoast reported.
The North Port Police Department arrived on scene to piece together the events of the evening. The Oasis neighborhood was left reeling, not from the typical Florida thunderstorm but from a vehicular plunge that interrupted the tranquility of a suburban evening. Ultimately, no one was harmed in the crash, a detail confirmed by NBC-2. The authorities urge anyone with information on the hit-and-run to step forward as the hunt for the second vehicle continues.
