Tragedy struck twice in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood as separate incidents claimed the lives of two men in a span of hours. Starting in the early hours of Sunday morning, Chicago Sun-Times reports that police discovered a man, presumed to be in his mid-30s to 40s, with multiple gunshot wounds on the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street. Declared dead at the scene, his identity has yet to be released as the search for the perpetrator continues.

In a separate, potentially unrelated incident, a 26-year-old man fell victim to gun violence later that same day. According to information obtained by FOX 32 Chicago, the shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. on the 11500 block of S. State Street. After being shot, which tragically ended his life, he was found by police between two houses and was promptly transported to the University of Chicago Hospital.

Despite their efforts, medical professionals couldn't save him. As of now, his identity has not been disclosed while next of kin are notified. The cruel irony of geography does not escape notice—with both crimes unfolding within blocks of one another, residents are left to question the safety of their streets.

A possible lead emerged when a witness reported seeing two men exit a black vehicle, opening fire on the victim before fleeing the scene. The suspects remain at large, casting a foreboding shadow over the community as police seek their whereabouts. No arrests have been made in either case, which remains an open investigation.
