Chino Hills residents were startled on Tuesday night when reports of gunfire echoed through the 3100 block of Oak Creek Road, prompting an immediate law enforcement response. According to the SBSD - Chino Hills Police Department, multiple calls were made around 9:46 PM leading deputies to a disturbance involving a family and one of its members, John Sepulveda, a 59-year-old Chino Hills resident. Sepulveda, wielding a handgun, was at the center of the discord.

After fleeing the scene, Sepulveda went on to discharge his firearm at nearby residences. Found parked, the deputies discovered Sepulveda's vehicle at a home in Chino Hills, leading to the unearthing of two firearms upon executing a search warrant — one stolen assault rifle and another being an unserialized "ghost gun."

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Specialized Enforcement Division was tasked with executing the arrest warrant in the early hours of Wednesday. Upon service at around 4:30 AM, Sepulveda was taken into custody without incident, as per the Chino Hills Police Department.

In the aftermath, it was discovered that the gunfire had struck a house on the 15900 block of Winbrook Drive, fortunately sparing the occupants from any physical injury, as reported by the Chino Hills Police Department. Having been found in possession of weapons and ammunition as a felon, Sepulveda is now facing multiple charges, including Shooting at an Inhabited Dwelling, Brandishing a Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of Ammunition.

The Chino Hills Police Department is reaching out to the community for any additional information regarding the incident.
