The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) has officially named the non-profit organizations Coastal Community Action Program (CCAP) and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) as the new case management providers for individuals living with HIV in Lewis, Mason, Pierce, and Thurston Counties. With services previously managed by DOH since mid-October, these community-centric organizations are set to take over, enhancing local connectivity and support. In an announcement released by the DOH, both CCAP and AHF are recognized for their contributions to HIV care and are entrusted with the responsibility to ensure those impacted by the disease have access to comprehensive healthcare services. These services include, but are not limited to, food and housing assistance, medical transportation, psychosocial support, and emergency financial aid.

These essential services come at no cost to patients, highlighting the commitment of DOH to ensure that the most vulnerable populations receive the potential life-saving support they need. As leaders in the fight against HIV/AIDS, AHF already operates an healthcare center in King County and is set to extend their expertise in managing prevention-focused initiatives into HIV case management starting July 1 in Pierce County.

On the other hand, CCAP, which has been providing HIV case management services in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties, began extending its reach to include Mason, Thurston, and Lewis counties on June 1. Their existing infrastructure and understanding of local needs positions them well to deliver compassionate and effective care to these additional communities.

For those seeking more information or in need of assistance, CCAP's new locations have been established in Aberdeen, Centralia, and Olympia. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out to Andrea Vekich or Jennifer Durrin at [email protected] or [email protected], respectively, or by phone at 360-533-5100. AHF's Tacoma office can be located at 3009 S 40th St, and their team will be available via [email protected] or at 253-238-1677 beginning July 1. The DOH also stands ready to field inquiries at [email protected] or via phone at 360-236-3426 or 877-376-9316.

Their efforts are not just about managing a disease but are a critical lifeline for many, a reminder that the battle against HIV/AIDS is fought with more than just medicine—it's fought with an unwavering dedication to human care. For more updates and information, the DOH encourages the public to visit their website, find them on Facebook, follow them on X (formerly Twitter), and to subscribe to the DOH blog, Public Health Connection.
