
On June 3, Brian Carreon, 52, of Devore, was taken into police custody for allegedly placing an explosive device near a residence on the 9300 block of Lomita Drive in Rancho Cucamonga. According to the SBSD - Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 4:36 PM when deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department were called to the scene. The original press release mentioned the presence of a suspicious device that prompted evacuations as a safety measure, with residents being allowed to return to their homes later that night around 10:20 PM.
Investigators, led by Detective Derek Brandt, identified Carreon as a suspect, and through their efforts, they uncovered additional evidence at the suspect's home. Found were materials and chemicals suited to make explosives, as well as items related to methamphetamine production, unused ammunition, and a stolen firearm. Following the arrest on June 7, Carreon faced Penal Code 18715 charges for Possession of Explosives in Public, as reported by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department. Additional felony charges have been recommended to the District Attorney's Office.
